This is what I got my son for Christmas.
Specs:
Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD .308
AICS 1.5 from SRT Supply
Storm Tactical Data book from Mark at Storm tactical. Thank you, Mark.
Night Force Rail from CS Tactical
TAB GEAR sling and rear bag from CS Tactical
RAD Rapid Break from RandD precision
Badger Bolt knob, Break and trigger tuned to 2.5 lbs by MOOn from GA Precision. Thank you, Moon.
The scope is a Nightforce 2.5-10 mil-dot/mil zero stop. This was taken off my Recce AR for now.
Not pictured is 900 rounds of FGMM 168 gr. ammo that I have been squirreling away for over a year a little at a time for him.

GREAT DAD
and...
evidently a worthy son.
Merry Christmas! </div></div>

Thanks Guys. Worthy son says it all. Honor student, Athlete, no issues, Yes sir, Yes ma'am. Plus now I get to shoot my rifle instead of watching him shoot it. This will last him a life time. He can re barrel it down the road and have the gun for a long time.

We have a few things we can do in common and hopefully this will be something we both do together for a long long time.

Re: Rem 700 SPS AAC-SD update first range rep.

Well we went to our local range this afternoon with my shooting buddy and hide member Rickp.

My son fired 75 rounds of the 168 gr. FGMM.

I did not save any of the targets as they were nothing to write home about. But right now we were getting 1" 5 round groups at 100 yards.

The Night Force 2.5-10x is less than what him and I are used to when shooting the bolt guns. I may be looking to upgrade him to 15-22x down the road. He wants my F1... In all seriousness I jumped from my 15x F1 to his 10x compact and the difference is highly noticeable.

The RAD rapid break worked well at reducing recoil. Now sound to the sides is another story but it does it's job very well.

The trigger is set at 2.5lbs and it is very crisp. It is definitely lighter that my other rifles but he was very good with trigger finger discipline and going to, "cover safe" Bolt up, when he needed to do any major adjusting.

The AICS fed flawlessly. We removed the small spacer to improve his eye relief and comfort behind the rifle.
Harris bi-pod and TAB rear bag worked well for him. He is used to these as that is what are on my gun.

We will clean the bore tomorrow and get some more rounds through it through the week. I hope that as the barrel seasons a bit it will tighten up a little.

I have to add that neither my son or I are phenomenal shooters. For example, with my GAP customized gun I can hold 1/2-3/4" on real good days, where I have had better shooters drive it and they shot alot tighter than I.

More to follow.

Re: Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD

Just ordered a SPS AAC-SD and was planning on putting it in an AICS 2.0. Just caught some threads stating people had some problems with installing the model 700's with x-mark triggers in AICS's. Did you have any issues with your sons build? Thanks.

I have mine in an AICS 2.0, and didn't really have any problems. You do need to apply firm pressure on the rear of the action when doing the install, but other than that it should be just fine.

After you've got it installed, after your first 5 or so shots recheck the bolts to make sure they are torqued properly and you're good to go.

Re: Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD

Thanks Cluebat, the threads I read mentioned that they could not get the rear screw alligned with the action and if you could the screw was not going in very easy. Scared me for a little bit, so thanks for calming my fears.

That was probably my post. I was afraid when I was doing the installation that due to the resistance I was getting that I was going to crossthread it. I was really careful and pressed down on the rear of the action while starting the bolt and all is well.
