I will apologize in advance if this question has been answered elsewhere. I searched to the limits of my capability and could not find it. I have a 700 SPS .308 20" onto which I want to mount a Yukon NVRS that was gifted to me. Please resist the temptation to critique the optic . I own it and plan to use it.
The rifle will be dedicated solely to varmint control on a large farm. The challenge is that the rifle is equipped with an oversized bolt knob that will not clear the belly of the optic when mounted on a standard Millett picatinny base that I picked up at Bass Pro. In fact, when I swapped the bolt out for one with a standard bolt knob, it still rubs the optic when cycling.
While there is no shortage of risers that I can add to the mix, I am reluctant to go down the parts-bolted-to-parts route. My preference would be to find a one-piece elevated picatinny base that attaches directly to the rifle barrel and provides the needed clearance.
I'll be darned if I can find such an animal. Am I missing something or should I just buy a separate riser to attach to the picatinny base I already have?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
