I have some old Remington Brass tip bullets that I have loaded in the past in 30.06. Is this stuff still legal to load and shoot? I was told they are no longer making them due to a law change in the 90s.

Re: Remington Brass tip bullets

No... they are just fine to shoot..I don't know about California tho. What you have are the old "Bronze Points"...which served the same purpose as the "NEW AND BETTER" polymer tipped bullets of today. They prevented the distortion of the bullet tips, and promoted fast expansion. Some say too fast expansion, but, in my experience and Jack O'Conners experience, they work well. I still have a couple of hundred...maybe 700 or so...and they kill deer sized animals dead right there. JMHO

They work great! What weight are they?....wish I had tons more of 'em ! They are great in self loading rifles.

And they are perfectly legal to use. And I think Rem. only makes seasonal runs.... if they do still make 'em.

Sweet thanks for the info!

I have used a recipe from my grandpa for years with these rounds in 30.06 and have taken a lot of large game including elk over the years. The penetration has never been an issue with them. always through and through.

However I can't find them in stores anymore and was told by two owners of two stores they were included in the banned ammo list with the Military Steel Core. I was just curious if I was S.O.L. on finding them again.

Re: Remington Brass tip bullets

about 8 years ago, brought a box from Midway. Bet you will find a box through Midway, Nazahza,Bowells maybe Cabelas. I load these up for shooting a old Army rifle 30-06 with iron sights. They did very well at targets. I can't think of a legit reason to ban them. They were a fore runner of the now plastic tipped bullets.

I found these Bronze tips on Midway

These are not the same as what I have. Mine are a BT design and they have a brass core, not a bonded lead with brass tip.

I have had them for at least 15 years, and I don't know how long my grandpa had them before I got them.

I think I am SOL on this one.

Thanks for the help guys, this board has good info.
