I am looking to get a LTR, but I want one with a 40x in it.

I thought they shipped with a x-mark, but remingtons 2011 catalog states they come with a 40x. When calling stores to inquire which trigger is in the gun the salesmen don't know... and they say they have no way to tell.

could anyone recommend a shop that sells LTR's and might know what trigger is in the rifle.

any help would be appreciated

Re: Remington LTR question

Mine was made in 2008 and came with the 40X trigger, I didn't realize it until I took it apart. That little LTR shoots every bit as good as my custom rifles too. And yes, you can verify it without taking the barreled action out of the stock, just look a hair forward of the trigger and you'll see a small adjustment screw right next to the bolt release button. You can adjust it without removing the rifle from the stock as well. Also, the X-Mark triggers are silver in color, and the 40X trigger on my LTR is matte black.

Re: Remington LTR question

I bet the folks at Bud's Guns in Lexington, KY would know the difference. They would have a good price too. Their quoted prices usually include shipping costs.

Thanks for the tip. And I'm glad to hear yours shoots so well.

I've heard they shoot about as good as you get without getting into a custom.
The size and weight are also big pluses for me.

I called Bud's because they do have good pricing, but they didn't know which trigger was in it.

Re: Remington LTR question

Sosicmcise nailed it. Bought my LTR a few years ago and it came with the 40x. Very nice factory trigger, and I would make sure to hunt down a LTR with the 40x and not settle on the x-mark. Unless you plan on changing out the trigger of course.

Re: Remington LTR question

Mine came with the Xmark and yes, it sucked. Swapped it for a Timney and all is good. Not sure if the 40x version cost more but, the Timney was 110 and I was able to sell the xmark here for 35 making the total investment 75. Just another option to consider, again depending on cost.

Re: Remington LTR question

I bought a LTR barrel and had it screwed onto a SPS Varmint action(which was stock with no work done to it) and it still shot 5 shot 1 hole groups, !@#$%^& like and idiot I sold it to chase after the same amount of accuracy. If I could find one again for the right price I'd jump all over it.

Re: Remington LTR question

Cant help on the trigger. I have an LTR that is about seven years old, and it is unbelievably accurate. Remington surely did something right with that rifle.
I reciently bought a used GAP rock, and my shooting buddy lit up like a four year old at Christmas, he said "I am ready to buy that LTR just name your price."

Sorry buddy. He is still butt hurt. I will never sell that rifle. So far I have not herd one person with anything but excellent reviews. Good luck on yours.

There was one on the classified board in the last few days with the 40x.

Re: Remington LTR question

I held a 700 LTR 20" barrel in a SPS stock with the new 40 X trigger in it.I know because I looked for the adjustment screw in the trigger, and it is chambered in .308, I allmost bought it.I hope this helps.

Re: Remington LTR question

I called Remington, and they said that if the dealer could give me the serial number they could verify if it has a 40x in it.

The stores I called yesterday don't actually have the guns in front of them(they ship from a warehouse) and they could not tell that way either. The rep at Remington did confirm that the 40x is black, but without being able to see one in person I still have not found one that I KNOW has the right trigger.

When I get home from work I'll search the interwebs some more.
Thanks for the help guys.
