ALCON,

It has come to my attention that Remington has a military discount program and that I might be able to get my hands on a Remington R-25 in .308 win for less than 1000$. So from what I have read is that this gun is basically a DPMS. Trigger is crap, but I was planning on swapping out stock, grip, trigger, and possibly barrel if need be. But 1000$ is a nice price to pay for a platform that I can shoot instead of stripped receivers. Anyone have any experience with them?

I was thinking of taking it and putting a MAGPUL PRS stock on it, change grip out and putting in a JP or Giessle trigger. Then seeing how the rifle shot out the box and then start looking for a new barrel, it is 1/10 twist, and I could use it for both hunting and range. Always wanted a 308 AR.

Are you going to use it for only target, hunting, or both?

If only target, then i would get the 24" bull barrel LR308 off kentucky gun company for under 1k and then mod it.

Was just in stock about 2weeks ago... Bet you could get the same off gun broker

More range time that hunting by far but I wasn't looking to get any longer than a 20in barrel. I would actually prefer a 16/18in to keep weight down and I wouldn't shoot out much further than 500 meters so I don't need the extra velocity that a 24 in barrel would bring.

Sounds like a good deal then,,,, especially if you want less weight.
