I'm looking into buying a new Remington SPS Tactical in 308 and have seen two variations of stocks. I have seen the Hogue over mold stock like the website shows and some with vtr stocks. Are these rifles with the vtr stocks factory correct? My local dealer has one of each in stock and I have also seen these on gunsamerica this way all unfired NIB? Well I was just wondering if I should buy the one with the hogue just because thats what is shown on the website or will I be okay with the vtr stock. By the way this is a great site.

Both stock "need" to be replaced ASAP but the rifles will still shoot quite well with them. Otherwise its a great choise, then for $200 and change you can get into a Bell and Carlson medelist thats a great starter stock and go from there.

If they are priced the same, I'd grab the one with the Hogue stock (both are factory offerings). The ones with the VTR stock were a short run, if I remeber correctly.

If you ever end up replacing the factory stock, you'll fetch more money for the Hogue than the VTR stock.

Mine shot pretty well with the Hogue. I did replace it with an HS Precision takeoff from a 5R and it definitely shoots a little better and more consistantly. But the Hogue was a very comfortable stock to shoot while you learn the gun.

I have a Bell and Carlson and its nice, im about to put a HS precision on my next one, A friend has one with the hogue and he likes it just fine. Get the Hogue and if it doesnt do it for you then sell the hogue and get any stock you want
