Remove safety selector switch on AR-15?

Re: Remove safety selector switch on AR-15?

Uh, guys, the detent that holds the safety selector in can be removed by loosening/taking off the GRIP, not the stock. The stock is what holds the detent for the rear takedown pin.

Now that I think about it you are absolutely correct. I stand corrected.

Re: Remove safety selector switch on AR-15?

That is actually the takedown pin detent that is held in by the latch plate. To remove the selector, you need to loosen (or remove) the pistol grip. The detent for the selector is held in by the pistol grip. Usually, just loosening the pistol grip is all that needs to be done.

They are now correct!

What he said. Be careful when you loosen the grip or your liable to have to hunt for the detent & spring.

He already got the trigger installed you just posted a day late.

Re: Remove safety selector switch on AR-15?

Though it's already done (I'm a bit late), you don't have to loosen/remove anything to get the selector out....

All you have to do is put the selector at 45 degrees between fire and safe, and work/push it out of the lower. Use a punch to push the detent back into its' hole when you re-install. 1911's are the same way.

Cheers,

Bill

When I was doing this project I couldn't have done what you mentioned. because when either trigger was in, the rear of the trigger stuck up just a little and obstructing the through hole. Maybe it's because its a pre-ban?

That was cause it wasn't cocked, could push forward on the trigger to get it in the same position. I remove the grip on mine though.

LOL funny how you don't think of the obvious when you're knee deep in a problem.
