Gunsmithing Removing and remounting scope question.

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but I have a GAP Remington 700 that has a Badger rail and Nightforce scope & rings. I lapped the scope rings and torqued everything down to spec. Now I need to do some inletting on the stock (under the barrel). My question is, if I remove the scope rings leaving them attached to the scope, can I just remount it on the rail or do I have to worry about re-lapping? I am not worried about the zero on the scope, I haven't even done that yet. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

You shouldn't need to lap them again as long as you get them lined up correctly. I use a Wheeler kit (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/816462/wheeler-engineering-scope-mounting-combo-kit-1-and-30mm) and have never had trouble getting the rings lined up perfectly with the provided alignment rods.

I use the same alignment rods before and after lapping as well.

I don't see the need for relapping,the rings, especially not taking them off of the scope.

Thanks Wtopace and BS, er, uh, Beef_Supreme (no offense). I didn't think I would have to re-lap but wanted to check with the pros first.
