I want to remove the castle nut on a JP Enterprise enhanced buffer tube so can replace that buffer tube with one that is compatible with an MDT buttstock.

I have a Cross castle nut wrench. I could not budge the castle nut even hitting a few times with a mallet. I tried a little Kroil oil without success.

Probably should admit defeat and have a gunsmith do the work. However, maybe there is a trick-of-the-trade I do not know.

Many thanks for any intel.

If you can, try to either put it in a freezer for several hours or use a heat gun or hair dryer. I have had to do both on 2 RRA ARs because they castle nuts were put on with red lock tight. Also check to make sure the castle nut has not been staked?
