Yay, was able to get Mays match in but it wasn't pretty. Friday not too bad other than cool, Saturday was a wash out with cold, rain and windy, Sunday was much better but breezy. Attendance was down some but being nasty and also Mothers Day weekend that's OK. There were also other shoots going on, seems to be a lot to choose from now so attendance may be down this year.
Many thanks to all that came and also the help many gave helping score and paint targets. When you're a one man band help is appreciated. Saw some really good scores and also some that makes you wonder why we do this. With most shooters moving up to higher quality ammo at each level the scores show the improvement. A couple competitors tried some Tac-22 and even though some thought it was decent back in the early days and you compare it to whats being used now it's a night and day difference.
As much as I hate to say the days of being in the running with cheapy stuff has passed, I do have three classes for those starting out and CCI std can still do OK at the low end and nearly any SK or some Eley for the middle class. All is hard to find now so don't wait till nearly match day, call around and get on a list if need be to get some decent stuff.
OK, on to the scores. Due to wild conditions this weekend the scores show how even good shooters struggle with shifty conditions. The flags would change direction within seconds and be swirling around and could be pointing in all four directions at one time. Some had it a bit better than others but that is the luck of the draw dealing with Mother Nature. Some competitors were on their way to their all time high score then the wind picked up and showed no mercy. Others tried ammo for the first time in their guns with no good settings which showed the gun didn't like it. All were great competitors and even though it was rough they showed great sportsmanship and soldered on, it's a real pleasure to watch each of them shoot and also share fellowship with everyone while enjoying time together. Thank You.
The Class winners are A: Dustin Fletcher, B: Dave Callipare, C: Rob Jackson and will recieve a free entry next month.
All scores decided by reverse count when a tie. When checking scores during re-adding some scores changed due to adding error during match.
