We had another good turnout for today`s match in very nice fall weather.

F-T/R

1. Andy M. 198-13V
2. Curt 194-19V
3. Kasumi 192-19V
4. Kevin M. 184-11V
5. Dan M. 181-11V
6. Doug 177-7V
7. Sled 176-5V
8. Fuzzytek 146-3V

F-Open

STP 188-10V
Greg 185-12V

Again, we had a majority of T/R guns, all in 308Win. Greg and I used the 260Rem`s. Andy always does well here, and it was nice to see him today. Also, we added a new shooter to compliment the contingent. We enjoyed having you shoot with us Fuzzytek. Let us know what you think after todays match, K?

I can`t see scheduling the next match in 2 weeks on the normal Sunday. Most of you will be in the woods chasing Bambi. We may have to push the next match back to the 28th. Y`all should be done by then, right?

Scott,

Thanks again for a great day!

I sure hope to have the freezer full by the 28th! I'd probably take off that day if the match was then. The first weekend is hard to pass up.

Fab day. Good company, great fun.

I enjoy hunting. Deer are optional...

I wouldn't pass up a match for hunting, not even for the golden goose.

Always a great time and Saturdays weather was a bonus. Thanks as always to Scott, Greg and the Odessa Club for hosting the match. And I'd like to especially thank Curt for his coaching and in helping me sight-in my new glass.

Scotty does all the work, I just handle some of the props.

I am as much indebted and in awe of his unfailing dependability as any of you. He's a friend to a guy who can count his friends on one hand, with a finger or two left over. IMHO a friend is someone you can trust behind your turned back without a single moment's hesitation.

We are fortunate to have his support.

Andy is a phenom. When he shoots, the competition is for second place and below. Folks joke about preventing him from coming, but I like it when he's there. He raises the bar and reminds me of my fallibility. What we really need is a bunch more of his caliber.

A the other end, my end, of the spectrum; I also benefit from each and every participant's contribution.

What many of you may not understand is that I am mainly housebound, between Celia's condition and my own. Except for these range experiences and shopping expeditions, we're home most of the time, looking out for each other, and caring for our Grandchildren while their parents cope with the realities of this economic depression. My daughter showcases wines at a local Winery, and her Husband makes ends meet whatever way he can. He was laid off last January, the unemployment is exhausted, and he does manual work in the vineyards, and prospects for more permanent employment. What we all have, we all share; and what Celia and I have, mainly, is time.

Each shooter's frustrations and joys mirror my own. I don't head up any columns, but my scores show steady, if small, improvement; and my deficiencies are yielding themselves to effort and commitment. I don't have all that much to offer, but where I can, I do, just as all of you do with each other and myself, and therefore, each shooter's individual gain is each and every one of our gain.

I wouldn't trade these matches and this camaraderie for anything.

Thank you Scott for hosting yet another great match. Congrat's to Andy, it was fun watching him put together a great relay.

It was so much fun we're doing it all again at 3pm here in Rochester at the Brooks Club.

It is a fantastic venue for the new shooter, I value all the input I get from the guys who frequent Odessa.

Thanks everyone see you next time.

Re: Results Odessa FV 200yd F-Class Nov 7th

Sounds like I missed another good match.

Luckly I am headed back to work on the 16th, finally! I've been off work since the end of July and the time w/o paychecks has really hurt (I even had to sell off 2 rifles). So today Tammy and I head to Va to do a little house hunting and will then come back to packout the house later in the week.

We only made it to two matches with you guys and I planned on making it to the one on Saturday (7th) with my son in tow to shoot in the second relay but life got in the way. Young Todd was home visiting from the Air Force for a week and was really looking forward to the match. At least we were able to do some shooting and have some trigger time at the Wellsville Rod & Gun before he flew back out this morning.

I will keep an eye on the thread here for updates for when you guys get started back up in the spring. With any luck I might make it back over for some fun with everyone. Frequent trips back "home" to NY will bound to be happening so I will be sure to run into you guys again.

So to everyone at the Odessa Matches, we'll see you later and stay safe.

Cheers - Todd & Tammy

Great shoot and great people. Thanks Scott for putting this on and for the pointers. I have a lot of practice to do before the next time. It will be all with the Remy "bolt gun" as you recommended. The SR25M will have to stay in the case till I get the basics down. It's great to watch others shoot like this. Watching clips and video are no replacement. It was good to see how different people used different styles. The way people set their gear up eye opening. All in all it was a great learning experience. Thanks Kasumi and Falconer for leading the way. Till next time.

Re: Results Odessa FV 200yd F-Class Nov 7th

My performance has been inching slowly toward a better place.

Mostly this is a result of following STP's advice and going back to basics.

One of the basics I had still failed to get back to involves resizing cases. I had been following a practice my Elder Brother Bill had introduced to me, which was to back off the F/L die, and use it to only resize the very end portion of the case neck. The reasoning had something to do with reducing/managing neck tension.

This time, I ran it all the way down to contact the Dillon's baseplate at full stroke; and the case necks show evidence of getting resized for their entire length now. When the bullets were seated this time, there was still no abnormally stiff seating force resistance. I take this to mean that the brass is still young and fresh.

I honestly can't anticipate if this will help, but a least it supports the idea of returning to basics.

BTW, it's getting cold out there in the garage at the reloading bench. I really do need to move that operation into the house.

Basics. Like checking the action screws. I found mine were loose after the last match. About 1/2 turn on the front and 2 full turns on the rear. Not sure how much I can attribute my results to that, but it certainly didn't help any.

Hmmm...

Since I haven't seen the announcement for a match on Nov 21, does this indicate the next meeting of the FV200 Congregants will occur on Nov 28, in honor of the deer season's opening weekend?
