What happened to the 5 to 6 mph winds they called for on Saturday? Typical Rayners shooting with winds ever switching back and forth in between shots and you'd think we'd all be used to it by now. Scores were even lower than what we've come to expect on a windy day with it being a struggle to even hit 300. There was only one 305 shot in our squad by Dave Moore so we'll see how it'll hold up to the scores tomorrow.

Sunday was a bit warmer but the wind would still pick up between shooters and even between shots in direction and speed. The shot of the day on Saturday had to be Randy Wise with his LR pistol with his last shot being a hit on the 5" plate at 1000 yards. On Sunday Randy again showed us how these LR pistols are supposed to shoot by setting a new LR pistol score of 320 and again making two great shots on the 8" plate at 1000 yards to put him over the top. Good job Randy, we'll concede to you but now you're obligated to show us what we're doing wrong.

We had a pretty good turnout with 76 entries with a few of our regular shooters missing. There were a few new faces today and I'm sure Tom and Carolyn hope you had a great time. Always challenging and always a great group of other shooters to spend the day with. Many thanks to Tom and Carolyn for letting all enjoy their great facility and also to everyone who helped with making this a great match. As always the food was great and we all appreciate it.

Congratulations to Dave Moore for the win and also to Randy for his second place finish with with a LR pistol. Overall scores were a lot lower than normal for everyone, if the wind didn't cooperate when it was your turn to shoot, a perfect shot and following adjustments didn't help. Saw quite a few shooters shoot unbelievably small groups just off the edge of a target but the they were making a windage adjustment in between shots and still hitting in the same spot. A bit frustrating but what can you do but grin and bear it. Lots of close misses we all enjoyed ;)

Thanks to all who helped plan the match today. Mrs. Smith and I had a great time. As always, the match was well organized, challenging and fun and we learned a lot about the wind. A special thanks to our squad leader Jim Bragg for his coaching and for all of his hard work weeding and preparing the targets and for the new wind flags (even though they lie). We will be back next month for another great long range match.

Quite a turnout for this weekends match and a great performance for one of the Handgun guys , Mr. 7fingers finished 2nd overall , great shooting Randy and thanks for the stocks ! Thanks to all who help out every month to make this happen !!!

Dale

I had fun as always fellas. Wish I would've came back on Sunday now! There is always next month to try and hit 300 again I guess. See ya then.

Dusty

Yep. Great time as usual. Thanks to everyone that made it happen and thanks to all of the spotters in our group. The hold over on the "yellow flower" for the young guy that was out of adjustment at 900 yesterday was about as good of call as your gonna get. Nothing better than seeing guys ring that steel. Congrats to Randy for some great shooting with his pistol. Now the long wait until next month.

Dave

You won't find a better place to shoot a long range match or better people than the ones that support and put these matches on at Rayners Range. Thanks to all and thanks to Topstrap for posting the results and your fine commentary .

LOL, I forgot all about that elevation correction. Guess we just get used to doing it and didn't think any more about it. That was a good shot he made. Heck, who needs all those fancy mil/moa calls for adjustment anyway? :)
