Sorry for the delay but been a busy week and just couldn't get to it. Had a decent turnout but figure quite a few just didn't want to get out in the 100 degree heat. It was actually pretty cool under the shelter with a nice breeze so it wasn't too bad on Friday and Saturday. Sunday was really weird with so much haze and humidity that when I shot we had to drive down to the targets to see where the hit was to make any correction for the next shot, it was so bad we couldn't see the hits on the steel with my Kowa spotting scope. None of the targets were crisp or clear, I tried to shoot peep sights but gave up after not being able to focus on the small black dots. Dug out the Remington 37 that I've never shot a match with and got settings as I went using numbers from the Win 52-C that were close. I'm a fan of these old target rifles and just love seeing being used for these matches and being competitive, dig them out and I bet you'll be surprised how well they can do against the newer guns.
Anyway, thanks to all that traveled to come shoot. Hope you all had a good time and found it challenging even though it'd now be considered Mid-range Rimfire with the latest fad of shooting out to 400 and 500 yards. Jerry Shaw showed us all how to do it with his H&R model 12 with a 20X SWFA scope and Eley CMP ammo, not sure if he sorts it or has some magic sprinkle dust he rolls them in but he shot an excellent score. As usual Randy Wise with his First Place Texas ELR finish Exemplar pistol put it on the rifle guys to show barrel length isn't that important in the long range game.
Jerry Shaw won so he gets a free entry next match, the two random $25.00 drawing winners were Bill Ruckman and Cuda Gatten. I will have your prizes to pick up at the next match. Each entry was elegible for the drawing. I checked each score sheet for errors I may have made and found an erro on Jerrys card, At the Horseshoes he had 73 and with 9 hits on the Big to Little circles at 197 his card added 11 instead of 9 which made 82 instead of 84, his 4 hits on the final stage gave him a total of 86 instead of 88. He still won but wanted to include this in case he had a question after seeing it the day of the match.
Chris and I exclude ourselves from the placement and drawing elegibility. All ties decided by reverse count.
