I'm getting a Nightforce Competition 15-55 for a 2500X benchrest and trying to decide on the reticle. It's between the FCR-1 and the DDR-2. Nightforce said the the DDR-2 was easier for ageing eyes to pick up which is my case for sure.

I am 76 so I fall into that aging category. The 2 reticles you put up, the DDR-2 is my favorite. I have it in a NXS 12-42x56 and shoot it in rimfire F-Class. I have looked through a Nightforce Competition with the FCR reticle and it is very similar to my NXS with MOAR-T reticle and that is very useablle. I shot that scope at 1000 F-Class and the cross in the middle was very easy to use and stood out nicely.

i shoot/prefer the ddr-2 in mid-range f-class and appreciate how clean it is; all i have to do is put the dot where i want to aim.

i find the extra hashmarks of the fcr-1 unnecessary, distracting and get in the way of precisely defining my point of aim. they're useful in a hunting situation but in target sports the target gives you all the "ranging" info you need negating the need to have it in the reticle.
