I'm looking for collective thoughts on the optimum line thickness for a reticle in a second focal plane optic of 20-25x for field and tactical use that is visible amongst varying backgrounds and target colors.

I'm coming up with a line thickness of between .100 - .125moa

I'm very interested in thoughts and opinions of the Hide.

What do you find optimal based on your experiences?

Re: Reticle Line Thickness Subtension Query

For field use at 20-25x you will not have any problems with that thickness. I hunt with a NF and it has about .075 at 22x and IMO it is the thinnest I would use. Thankfully it is illuminated and that helps a lot when I start to loose it. The problem I always have is that the scope I want never has my preferred reticle thickness for a given application, so I go with an acceptable range of thickness. For your required use I would select a reticle between .075 - .125 if illuminated. Non illuminated I would go .100 - .125
