The scope I am putting on my new Savage 10FCPK doesn't have a zero stop. Will zero this rifle at 100 yds. using Hornady 168 gr. A-Max. Does anyone have a trick way to help return to zero after adjusting for one target range and then switching to a different range target.

Thanks!

Yeah you dial it back to the zero on the scope elevation knob which should have been returned to 0 after you zeroed the rifle. If the scope has stadia lines under or on the knob you should note how many are showing when you are at your zero for the rifle. You can also cover them at your zero so that you know how many revolutions you are off. Here is a Leupold scope I use to have that I put a piece of tape on the marks to keep track.

At my zero mark which I left showing one line

Up one rotation showing another mark.

Depending on the scope you are using, I've seen some guys improvise a shim system so that the turret bottoms out on something. Take a look at how the Viper Vortex PST works for ideas.

I have also used Rob's technique, and a variation of it also. Once zeroed, i use a red or yellow high highlighter pen to color in the stadia line that corresponds to my "zero." Covering the "below zero" stadia lines is probably better if you intend to shoot in low light conditions.
