Rifle Scopes Review: Bushnell HDMR

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

Thanks, I didn't know I had to remove the knob in order to get it back to zero...I was just going to try to turn it like on the IORs.

To make elevation adjustments...Just pull the knob all the way out and turn the knob left or right. Pushing knob back down "locks" the elevation knob into place.

Zero the scope. Hold the knob down and use a coin to counterclockwise take off the cap. Take the knob off and reposition the knob to zero. Put the cap back on and tighten it down. GTG.

Hope this helps. </div></div>

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

I think mine looks good on my AR in my lt104 spr mount... i'll snap a pic tonight. i agree that on a bolt rifle it looks more balanced with the sunshade on it though.

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

What are yall's thoughts on the reticle? This is my first, FIRST FOCAL PLANE optic, and so far I like the one I mounted on my 700 tactical. The glass is comparable to my Zeiss optic IMO, but I have never had a reticle with "this much stuff" in it before. It is great for this rifle with all of it's shots being slow and deliberate. I'm not sure I am going to like it better on my varmint rifle where I don't always have as much time to use the reticle to it's fullest. Who knows, maybe I will get more proficient with it the more I use it. What are the opinions? Is it too much, or about right?
I grabbed two at the promotional price because I feel like this optic will sell for much more to the public, but now I am thinking about selling my extra one.

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

Anyone know if the glass is the same on this as the elite scopes? I do remember reading in an earlier thread about this scope bushnell is supposed to release this with a gap style reticle and illumination, any word when or if that is going to happen?

yes, it is elite glass.

don't know about the other reticles. I assume not anytime soon (soon as in few months)

I'll take your second one LOL. I have one in hand and like it. Some people hate horus reticles, and some love them. As I see it, you have the reticle there to help you make more precise hold overs and wind holds - you won't always use it (when you spot a coyote running across a pasture, etc.), but you have the option. The "busyness" of the reticle does not bother me.

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

Cuban Croc, et al,

thanks to you and all for your review and comments on this scope/reticle combination. Do you all have any concerns about Horus' customer service and the very limited warranty Horus offers? Also, any idea when it might be made available to civilians? I'm too long out of the Corps (almost 50 years now) :D, to qualify for the military option

Horus customer service indicates this June, but I don't know if any of you all might have heard something else?

thanks in advance,

tony

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

I believe his ID is grendel...he works for Bushnell and he stated that Bushnell will warranty the HDMR.

I am very happy with my optic...I also ordered the SS 5-20 and I cannot wait to compare the two optics.

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

no need to worry about Horus's customer service, since Bushnell is taking the lead.

This scope is vastly superior to any Horus product. CC and I's video is our first attempt so be kind...... just kidding, I expect the sharks to circle.

but seriously Bushnell has already addressed the warranty issue in another thread. But so far CC's scope nor mine will be going back for service as they function perfectly.

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

one thing I would suggest/consider is, based on where my scope zeroed and CC zeroed, I think the proper base to run would be a 30moa base. I have about 15 mils of travel up, which is fine for what I'm doing but I am 10-15 mills from bottoming out.

both our guns are Remy 700's .308 w/ 20moa ior rails, mine was with has badger medium rings and his has seekins low rings

Re: Review: Bushnell HDMR

What sight height do you get with your set up? Mine is mounted on my Sako TRG 42 with high Seekins 34mm rings and my sight height is 2.0"
