A few years ago my family signed a gas lease. It went well for the first year until the company sold our lease to Rex Energy. It says explicitly in the lease that it cannot be sold and Rex Energy acknowledge this and said they would give up the lease. That was over a year ago. They've been giving us the run around and aren't giving up the lease. They keep coming up with another excuse. They said about negotiating a new lease with them and we've tried that, but they are hot and cold and aren't getting back to us. At this point even if they will negotiate a lease at the going price my family doesn't want to sign with them because it they are this unresponsive over a very black and white issue. We're wondering how they would be if we have an issue down the line. I'm betting they will be even more unresponsive and less likely to deal with us. I'm looking for advice on this issue and I'd like this to be a word of warning for dealing with Rex Energy.

Re: Rex Energy

Since they admit fault Id just put new locks on the gates, put up no trespassing signs, and tell them to stay the fuck out. If that doesnt work have the sheriff tell them. If that doesnt work have your attorney tell them.

It would be a shame if a meteor fell on their well.

Re: Rex Energy

It's just the lease at this point, if they try drilling we'll stop that as soon as they try.

We've been talking to the lawyer and considered taking it to litigation which we should easily win, but it sounds like they will probably repeal and keep it wrapped up until the lease is over.
