Hi all ! I will be going on a black bear hunt in Alaska this coming summer and I am looking to purchase a 300 wm rifle and a scope . I have been looking around for a few months now, but it looks like my options are unlimited . Ideally would like to spend around $3500 for the combo . I would like a good quality scope that is fairly easy to use as far as to adjustments. I am open to all suggestions .

I've seen several very nice 300wm's in the firearms for sale threads here. You can get a used nightforce for $1500 which leaves you $2000 for a nice rifle. Hope you have a great hunt.

I agree Remington has had some QC problems when your talking about the SPS or BDL or similar models but I have heard very few complaints on the sendero.

The sendero is a good rifle for out of the box performance. I'm not saying it's the best or only choice but out of the rifles I have shot and owned it preformed the best without any modification.

Alaska black bear...
300 win mag...
ALASKA...

-Ruger M77mk2/hawkeye stainless-
Controlled round feed in case you run into more than black bears, stainless to combat Alaska's humidity, no magazine to drop or lose, relatively light weight...etc
That'll run you...maybe $800 with good scope rings included, leaving you a meager $2700 to spend on scope, sling, ammo, binoculars, rangefinder, camo, knife...etc

The ruger will be more than accurate enough for black bear out to and beyond 500 yards, if you are capable. Getting it early frees you up to practice with it more. Getting it cheaply affords you more ammo to practice with it more.

Many have forgotten there are advantages of controlled round feed.

For optics, anything clear and rugged in the 2x-ish to 10x-ish magnification range (2-7,3-9,2.5-10...). Zeiss, leupold, Kahles, high-end bushnell...etc

Have a great hunt!
