Gone skipping down the pavement once before. Not anxious to try it again. If I had a rifle on my back that time, I probably wouldn't be walking (or riding) today.
Everyone likes to think about the ride. Preparing for the possible crash will get you home alive.
Ask any experienced rider, they will tell you "ride like they are trying to kill you". You may be the best rider in the world. Eventually your number will be up and you will hit the ground.

Be very careful. I too despise officers who don't take the time to learn the law they are sworn to enforce. However, poking the tiger is never wise. Rarely have I seen anyone on the road who is 100% compliant with their state's vehicle code. Roadside inspections can be VERY expensive if an encounter becomes a dick measuring contest. You more than likely will loose the encounter.
BTW, I am pretty certain that even in Texas an officer only requires REASONABLE SUSPICION to stop you. Not PROBABLE CAUSE. Depending on the information he had at the time he may have had reason to believe that you were involved in criminal activity. Especially since strapping on a M4 and hitting the road is VERY out of the ordinary.
Bottom line is don't draw attention to yourself. If you do, then be polite. If not, make sure you have a lawyer on retainer. It will only be slightly more expensive than a stack of tickets.
