Rifle Scopes Rifle Scabbard on a Camelbak?

hey all,
I have a brand new Camelbak Striker XT that I really dig. It's a perfect size for squirrel hunting and general poking about the woods looking for something to shoot. That said, it doesn't seem to have a scabbard option.

Has anyone successfully attached a rifle/shotgun scabbard (like the shotgun scabbard from Eberlestock) to a Camelbak?

Any suggestions as how to carry a rifle with that pack?

That is a pretty small pack to try and strap a rifle on to.

You could try and putt the butt in the outside pocket, then strap it down. The barrel will probably interfere with your head though.

Another thing would be to sew a pocket on the side and place the butt in that. Then sew some nylon webbing to strap it tight. I did the same type of thing in Iraq with my M4 and my assault pack. It worked okay, but with such a small pack the rifle is going to twist and want to move a lot. It will be hard to secure it well.

I should have seen the Eberlestock Mini-me first; it really is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Goddamn that non-existent time machine for not existing!

Either way, I only carry a small Marlin 60 .22 or Savage .17 HMR in Camo so actually carrying the thing with a strap isn't that bad. I'm simply looking for more ways to be lazy.

As a former Prof at a very large, highly respected State University, I know your troubles well.

My last semester teaching, I made a bet with myself. Try and identify students as having been educated in public or private school based on their ability to write.

I was 11 for 11 with my guesses.

That is why my 3 year old son will never see the inside of a public school.

I truly sicken myself sometimes with my writing abilities. I actually got A's in Comp 1 and 2 in college, but had to do some extremely heavy editing and always had a grammar book beside me. I don't take that much time to edit on here as you can see.

Also, I am surprised that a professor such as yourself would be into shooting. You must be a Business, Engineering, or Economics professor.

Nope.

I was in a field that would surprise just about anyone, especially considering my general hatred of liberal/left wing politics (which not to say that I like Republican/right wing/conservative politics either).

English Lit.

Anglo-Saxon manuscripts to be exact. Very cool research, but I hated the academy.

No, I don't. Not many people in the world make/made a living by taking badly damaged manuscripts that are over 1000 years old, expose them to all manner of alternative lighting techniques, photograph them, then restore the writing so that what can no longer seen by the naked eye, can be read (in digital form of course).

Very cool stuff. And very valuable research.

Too bad so many of the people in academia are cock wads.

I hate many liberal ideas, particularly gun control and fiscal ideas, though I will say that many are very good ideas as well (marijuana legislation, equal marriage rights for all). That said, I feel the same way about many conservative ideas. Some are pretty good, others are shit.

Don't worry about the institution itself. It is liberal-slanted by build. There is no changing it. There is no fighting it. It is that way for good reason, and needs to stay that way. Universities are not what most people want them to be. Most people see them as a way to get a job after graduation. If you're looking for job training, go to technical college. Professors/administrators see universities as institutions for higher learning which constantly challenge conventional systems of thought in order to progress forward. Without universities, we have no women's rights. We have no civil rights. We have no optics for our guns.

The way that academics get things done in the real world may not always be the best ROE according to those it effects, but their accomplishments with said ROE cannot be understated. We still collectively pile mud as a people without the university system.
