Just because I'm curious, are you going with lighter or heavier rifles? I'm seeing a lot of people getting away from the carbon fiber stocks and going to something heavier.

Personally I'm shooting an AXMC for PRS type matches. She's a hefty girls but it's really hard to give up the reliability the system provides, especially in less than ideal conditions that we see up here.

My goal weight for my last match rifle was 17 lbs. I hit it on the nose and the balance worked out just in front of the magwell. Rifle balances very well on a bag. Ended up running a 26" bartlien heavy palma contour with APA LB II brake and an MPA comp chassis. The rifle I was shooting before for matches was an AX308 that weighed 19 lbs. That is still not too heavy for my liking.

I'm right at 19lbs with my AXMC and a TBAC U7

I'm right at 16lbs with my vector custom and it balances excellently. I can easily let it rest by itself on almost any bag really, on a barricade. Free recoil is no problem when needed even though I try not to employ that technique.

As I get more and more comfortable with positional shooting, I find myself going heavier and heavier.

After playing musical chairs with every gear option available I’ve settled on:

    Impact action with 6creed 26” m24 barrel/pva jetblast
    JAE chassis
    Spuhr 4601
    Minox Zp5

I’m guessing it’s around the 17lb mark (haven’t weighed it) and if I could, I’d make it heavier.

I think I am pulling out all the stops.. I just need to find someone 6'7" to carry it for me.

If it doesn't crush the obstacle, it should balance perfectly and the 6mm should not move the gun much.

I need to weigh mine, but I'm running an MPA Comp chassis, with all the weights in it, and a Heavy Palma barrel . I'm pretty sure I'm over 25lbs. with a full mag in. It's by far the heaviest rifle I've ever owned, and it is just rock solid off shaky shooting positions, and shoots repeatable free recoil like a champ.

Heavy Gun Bench rest gets nuts. At least that one has the weight in the shape of a stock.
The rail guns they don't even bother.

I've been mulling over this subject.

My rifle is at 19lbs, it has a heavy varmint at 28" and is braked. I'm 5'6" and a older guy weighing in at 155lbs. It was too heavy for me to hike around with during the last few matches I went to/fatigue, and in offhand stages it was ridiculous, lol.

I think I will put a 25" medium palma on it and rig up a weight of some kind to attach to the rifle when I want extra weight, but I need the rifle to come in around 13lbs without a weight attached.

I'm also going to experiment with 22PPC using 88's to reduce rifle movement.
