I know this question is asked a million times and there is ways to figure out exact height but i dont have the gun or scope or rings an my base yet. Its all in the mail. My question is what size nightforce rings do i need for a 5.5-22 56mm. its going on a remington 700 5r 300 win mag with a nightforce 20 moa base. I want there to be enough clearance for Butler creek flip open caps. Any help will b greatly appreciated!

i would go with a 1 inch optical center line ring, (medium) to be on the safe side.

The medium heigh would be the way to go.
The part number you seek is the A101 - Ultralite rings 1.0" height 30mm rings.

I have a 56mm NSX in meduim ultralight rings. Perfect height above a varmint contour barrel in a Savage action with a 20 min EGW HD base. Nightforce bases are relatively high so you'll have plenty of clearance with the medium ultralights.

I have the same 5R and NF scope. Using Seekins 20 moa base and Badger max 50 high rings. Perfect fit using butler flips. I thought they would be too high but I believe lowlight made the suggestion when I was looking. He was spot on! As usual.

Seekins Medium Rings .87" will be perfect. BC covers or the Bikini cover will still fit.

As mentioned above, the Medium height 1.00" tall NF rings will work and provide plenty of room. If you choose, you can actually mount the 56mm in the Low height .885" tall rings and still gain clearance for the Butler Creek caps; but only the Butler Creeks since they are rather thin and do not add much additional diameter to the objective end of the scope. The 1.00" tall will allow the use of the factory NF bikini covers but the .885" rings will not unless the rib around the bikini cover is trimmed for clearance.

That's what I use on my NF scopes on my bolt action that have scopes mounted with 56mm bells. On AR'S I use 1" from the bottom of the rail to the bottom of the ring base. Jay knows what he is talking about.
