I know this is mostly personal perference, but I'm going to ask your opinions anyway.

So I guess I just want to know which you would use and why.

I'm going to be putting in my order for my SWFA 5-20 SS soon, cause I just don't see us hitting 10k and I'm trying to decide what to get.

The 5-20 will probably end up ontop my 6.5 Grendel AR.

I'm looking at ARC for the rings cause of all the good things I've read about them.

Only problem is I think if I got them I would need a Badger 22moa base too, which together would be more expensive than a one piece mount.

The Aadland mount already has 20moa built in and I've seen a few people on here useing them, seems like a solid choice.

What's your thoughts between these two?
What if you could pick from all mounts on the market, what would you choose then?

Thanks for the input.

Re: Rings or one piece mount?

For a 30mm scope tube, I prefer the 1.375" Nightforce Unimount and it's exactly what mine is going to go into. It's lower than the AAD, and I don't run a PRS stock. For me any mount higher than 1.4" is too high and I can't get proper cheek weld. It will also clear a 50mm objective.

Re: Rings or one piece mount?

I too pick the NF for 30mm and 20moa. I prefer the lower model.

Depending on rails and scopes I also like the US Optics mounts because 1.2" is perfect for me.

From the other thread:

Eyepiece OD: 44.11mm / 1.736"
Objective OD: 60.00mm / 2.362"
I got that info from a post Brady made over on Optics Talk. Not sure what size Butler Creeks that is. </div></div>
Doing the math the 1.125 Unimount won't clear the OD of the 50mm obj on the 5-20x SS.

Re: Rings or one piece mount?

The cost of the NF unimount is almost as much as the ARC rings and the Badger rail.

I think for the money I'd take the rings & rail so I could swap my other scope over to the AR if I ever wanted.

My USO has medium badgers I believe so it wouldn't go on their w/o the rail, also it's a 34mm tube so I couldn't just swap them.

Re: Rings or one piece mount?

Jon A's AADMOUNT has a guarantee to return to zero within 1/2 MOA, not mark up the rings, and has the 20 MOA built into it. I would take that over a NF unimount in a heartbeat.

It's no secret that I do like the ARC rings a lot though, I'm not sure which is lighter to go with: Badger riser and ARC rings or Jon's mount, same question on expense as well.

I am putting ARC's 30/36mm on my new AR15 from Mark Gordon with my 2.5-10x32 NF. It's the same setup that I had on my recently sold AR15 to upgrade to the SAC built system. It has been extremely reliable with no discern-able zero shift if I put my backup Reflex II onto the top.

The NF compact has a LOT of travel in the turrets and the way I use it, I rarely dial anyway so I'm not going to run a riser on there.

I haven't been using a riser rail, and I've been harassing ARC's owner for a couple of months to come out with a QD unimount... Maybe he'll do it sometime soon

Re: Rings or one piece mount?

I would defintely go for a unimount instead of rings and rails.
Why adding lots of small pieces together instead of one mount?

I belive it might be a good idea for your to check the height as well, there is pretty much different in height and what is perfect for one feels like a disaster for the next one.
