Anyone using it?

I have a 30-06 AI that had 2 loads listed with the reloads that came with the rifle. One is 62gr under a 150 Ballistic Tip, the other is 62gr under a 165 Accubond

I looked up data on Alliant's site and it lists 62gr as the max load for 30-06 up through 180gr bullets. It would seem to me that it just happens to be that 62gr is all you can stuff in the case.

I know that's about the limit I have with RL-22 in a regular -06 but with the AI, I probably can stuff another 2-3gr in it.

Anyone ever run RL-19 in a 30-06 or a 30-06 AI before and maybe you can give me a bit of a heads up on it?

I am looking for a replacement for my 178 Amax load that was previously H4350, since it's been pretty hard to come by and I can get RL-19 right now and it shot well from the couple of hand loads in the 150gr range. I thought I'd try out some for the shelf full of 178 Amax's that I have.

That's a 180gr bullet right?

I loaded some last night from 59.5-61.0 grains, even at 61.0 they still have enough airspace to "shake" the powder.

I didn't see a compressed load til 63.5gr with a 150 FMJBT... which is one of the loads I got from the previous owner

We are loading 57.0 under a 190 SMK for 2700 FPS from a 26" Barrel. WW case and Federal Match Primers.

In our 9 August 2009 Sniper Match the old 06 was the only rifle to put 5 out of 5 on an IDPA Silhouette at 800 yards.

Re: RL-19 in 30-06?

Thanks guys. I shot the 59.5-60.5gr loads yesterday and they did OK, I think it can go tighter but I haven't had the time to really spend testing yet.

I bought this rifle as the starting platform for a 280 AI and I'm enjoying the new toy so much I'm having a hard time parting off the pieces that I formerly didn't want... LOL
