Good call - got a little off track in the middle and Kilmer failed to sell some of the dialogue, but otherwise solid. But I'm a sucker for most things Mamet - especially if it's got Ricky Jay in it.

Re: Ronin

No, no, it's revealed in the last 30 seconds of the film, during a voice over of a radio report about the peace accords.

Also, the briefcase in Pulp Fiction? That was the soul of the black gangster. Remember the cut/scar on the back of the black gangster's head? That was where/how the soul is removed by his enemies (Satan's helpers, possibly). There are religious hidden messages all over Pulp Fiction.

Re: Ronin

I thought the peace accords went on because the bad guy faction was taken out?

Spartan was so-so. Kingdom was a good flick, and takers for "Way of the Gun"?

Almost wish they had made a sequel to Ronin. It was kind of set up in the alternate ending where the girl is kidnapped.

the stuff that was in the case in Pulp Fiction is the stolen goods from the movie reservoir dogs.

Way of the gun, one of my favorites. love the 1911s in the movie. Liked the part when they were sniping from the hill

Re: Ronin

The car chase scenes are hilarious. Pay attention to De Niro--he's scared to death as his car gets towed at high speed--he looks just like what he must be--a New Yorker who's always chauffeured around town, forced to face traffic behind the wheel.

It's the only time I've not seen De Niro play his scene well. He's absolutely petrified watching the view in front of him.

+1 A good movie that snuck under the popularity radar.

Re: Ronin

This movie has some of the best lines and scenes ever in a movie. I have the extended version on DVD. I watch it regularly with the ending where Dedra is kidnapped as she goes to visit Sam in the bar. Rumor was a squeal was planned.

I think the weakest part is the car chase only because Sam acts and looks like he cannot drive to be super spook.

Have to watch it now!
