I am mounting a Sightron 45x on a Tikka T1X for 50 yard BR. The EGW picatinny rail extends 1.5" past the front of the receiver. Should I limit the foward ring to sitting on the receiver or move it more forward to the section of the rail that exteends out over the barrel? Thanks for your input.

It won’t make any difference. The most important thing is proper eye relief. That and not having the turret assembly or any other scope tapers touching the rings.

Figure out your eye relief first. Then if you can....move the rings to where they do not contact anything but the main portion of the scope tube if it bothers you. The thickness of the rail should be adequate as is to place it in any slot you want.

One thing to also make sure of is set the ring in the picatinny slot...and shove that ring towards the muzzle (in the slot) before you lock it down with tools. You want the ring to meet the rifle during the recoil pulse. moving rearward should it be any kind of loose at all. They will be meshed together from the get go.

Got it all in place, just wanted to confirm how to treat the overhang of the base foward of the receiver. Now that I have that piece of the puzzle I am ready to go. Thank you.
