Proper torque. No locktite. No rosin. Spuhr has never let me down
I have 6 Spuhr mounts, they recommend using Rosin, so I figured it was cheap insurance. Never had a single scope move, besides one that I forgot to torque down after assembly
. I use blue loctite on the screws also, per their recommendation.
I use Rosin on all of my scope mounting regardless of manufacturer. It’s cheap and for a little extra piece of mind. Why not? Saying that, my Spuhr mount is so well machined that I just don’t see how anything would move in it. I also use blue Loctite. Using the proper torque as supplied from the scope manufacturer, I have never had a scope move in about 30 years.
I got 2 of Spuhr mounts, torque to speck loctite on base screws only and no rosin. never had a problem in a comp rifle and caliber

Some of you may want to go reread what Sphur actually says about Rosin and Loctite use.
Did you clean the screws because they are waxed.

If your scope rings need fucking rosin to hold a scope in place either you have shit rings or you have no business mounting scopes yourself.

I believe Hakan recommended a little bit of rosin on his mounts in the instructions? There is nothing wrong using it! Just use the fine ground stuff.
My NXS walks in my Nightforce rings which were torqued to spec that was mounted on my .50 BMG. I guess I must not know what I am doing and Nightforce must be shit

The owner of spuhr literally said to me himself that not only do they recommend rosin, but they advise to use blue loctite aswell, otherwise its common for screws to come loose. That came directly from the owner himself, but apparently a wannabe cosplaying pirate tough guy knows better
While I am not against the use of rosin or loctite, I have never needed it on any of my SPUHR mounts. I currently own 7 SPUHR mounts and have them on various rifles from 6.5 to .50 and I have not had any issues. If I do, I will try the rosin and/or loctite.
That's some high quality shit. But what would I know I've been mfg shit far more expensive ounce for ounce than anything Spuhr makes.

I use SPUHR and ARC and have never done anything but torque to specs. No movement even on a 338LM
After having a scope in a different type of mount come loose during a bench rest competition (which was torqued to spec), I made it a habit to clean all of my mounting hardware prior to use with acetone, then apply a dab of blue loctite to guarantee that won’t happen again.
Again, per Spuhr’s recommendation, I use a small amount of rosin.
You can either take the recommendation of the guy who designs and manufactures these mounts, or take the advice of random guys on the internet with unknown credentials.

So right at the 43 second mark of your video he states "you don't have to bed a scope and you don't have to use rosin". He said he likes to use rosin because he likes overkill but it's not needed.
He also does not say to use loctite, he says don't clean the screws before use. If you clean them, you need to lubricate them with oil or loctite.

I prefer overkill too, which is why I spend $450 on a Spuhr mount vs $89 on a set of rings that’ll likely hold up just fine.
Cleaning & loctiting the hardware is something that I’ve decided to do on my own after having loose screws take me out of a competition like mentioned. Using the loctite as a lubricant is what he recommends if cleaned, and in my opinion is just another form of insurance.

I have only ever used anything other than proper torgue values with one exception.
A 300WM that seemed beat the crap out of anything that was screwed, glued or nailed to it.

A bag of powdered rosin costs a couple bucks and will last forever. I've never owned a Spuhr, but when I've mounted scopes in Badger rings I've wiped a thin layer on prior to dropping the scope in. Stuff is so sticky the scope won't move even without the ring caps on.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why everyone’s panties are getting in a wad. If you want to use rosin or locktite or not, who cares? I just use it because it’s cheap insurance and I tend to over do every thing. That’s just my personality. And what does it hurt exactly besides your feelings? And whoever thinks Spuhr rings are junk must be just on another level.
I'm a belts and braces kinda guy, so I go for epoxy in under the rings, epoxy on the screws an usually do a couple of blobs of tig for heavy recoiling rifles.

That may work...but maybe add a little rosin just in case and make sure you have them torqued down properly.

I only use Mil scopes so bought myself a Newton Meter torque wrench.
18nm on all ring screws does the trick.

Exactly, use rosin and/or Loctite... or don't. Each person gets to decide.
The reason this thread blew up is because someone is implying that you HAVE to use them, or your Spuhr won't hold.
Next thing you know, there will be a thread implying AI bolts are soft.
