    Here's an interesting thought/conundrum I just had.

I now have 2 TL3 receivers sharing 6 barrels between them in different calibers. I've been using an app to keep track of round count and making separate "profiles" by barrel. But now that I have 2 receivers sharing barrels, I'm wondering how I should do it? ?

For those that track this sort of thing, is it more important to track round-count on the receiver or the barrel?

It's gonna be a headache keeping track. My feeling is to disregard amount of rounds on a receiver and just focus on barrels.

    Anybody face this or care?!

Barrel is all that really matters. They are consumables, and will be replaced according to round count.

Actions only need to be replaced if you get the itch to change it out or you really mess something up. No need to worry about round count on an account. Nothing really gives out on an action at a set number of rounds through it.

Barrels. Barrels wear out, your TL3 shouldn't. Not by rounds anyway.
You gotta keep notes by barrel anyway (zero offset, loads, DOPE, etc.), so keep round count too.

JMO, but it's the right one.

Only thing that made me think of it, was the one I just bought was used and seller stated how many rounds we're on it.

    I appreciate your input.

I track the barrels, and have been keeping track via the number of firings on a batch of brass slated to that barrel. As I run larger lots of brass, I can see wanting to use them on multiple barrels at once and may switch up my method. One thought has been using a hash mark filed into the barrel for each 100 rounds fired.

Most or all custom actions being produced these days should be good for a lifetime and then some.
Unless the lugs gall or wear (unlikely with the materials/heat treatment/coatings) I bet a TL3 will last approx. a few days short of forever. Wear items like extractor or bolt stop might need to be replaced after many many rounds, but that's what makes them wear items.

Only reason to keep a round count on the action is to show off hard work and practice. I look forward to one day hitting a 10k mark (then 25, 50, 75, 100, etc) on my soon to be AIAT.

Barrels wear out, quality actions dont.

Actions tend to get smoother with age. Cycle a Remington 700 action enough and it will run smooth as butter.

Concentrate on performance. When you run out of lands to reach or when accuracy goes to shit due to barrel wear. Invest in a lyman bore scope. It will pay for itself by assisting in premature barrel replacement or wasted ammo through a broke bore. There is no golden rule on round count.
