Few monarchs have every been anything but narcissistic scoundrels. That said, what Queen Elisabeth II turned it into in Great Britian was pretty unique and historically significant. She really did devote her life to service, and serving her country and people from a very young age. This is not at all the norm or historically common. I don't think folks have any great hopes for Charles other than hopefully not too bad, but I do think that William will probably try to emulate much of what he saw from his Grandmother, he seems a lot more stable than many of his relatives and his wife also seems to understand well what her role should be and how to live it.

There would be an arrest, then a quick trial for something about treason and/or heresy, then they would be sent straight to the Tower of London, then shortly thereafter into an unmarked grave, and that would be that.
