Man I bought this thing for my 10yr d for xmas and wS playing with it. The bolt is very hard to work. Get stuck sometimes when running it, and very hard to lock the bolt into battery. Not sure my 10yr old will be able to run the bolt. Anyone else have this issue? Is it normal since it a cheapy?

I have similar issues with the bolt catching when moving it forward. It's not a tight and smooth as others, that's for sure. It's got some play in it. However, I didn't have trouble locking the bolt into battery. My 14yr old runs the RPR most of the time and it's not trouble for him. My 10yr old has also used it and he didn't have trouble either.

One bit of advice regarding the magazine. Most 15rd mags wiggle front to back slightly (unless Ruger fixed this in the past year). If you find it difficult to peel a round off the top of the mag, move the bottom of the mag forward to realign it and that'll solve the issue, although temporarily. The best solution to this problem is to by a 3 pack of 10 round 10/22 mags for $30 or so and ditch the 15rd mag. Stay away from the 25rd mag. The alignment problem is amplified with a heavier mag.

Thx for the advice. Yeah if I run the bolt hard forward it will go into battery and lock up. If I don’t run it hard or let it stop it becomes very difficult to close the bolt. Was hoping someone else was having a similar issue with a fix like maybe a little bit of lapping compound or something to take off rough edges maybe.

I put JB Bore Compound on mine and cycled it a couple hundred times. It smoothed out a little but didn't solve the getting stuck on the forward stroke problem. You're right though, if you get in a hurry and try to muscle it forward, it gets cranky and fights back. If you're easy and smooth with it, it operates well.

Yes, I had the same kind of issue when I first got mine. After the first day at a range I was cleaning the gun and as I was inspecting the bolt and cleaning it up, I cut my finger pretty good on the bolt where it has that long groove milled into it. Both edges of that groove were razor sharp. So, I decided to decided to file down those edges that this wouldn't happen again. As it turns out after doing that, the bolt immediately cycled substantially smoother and with further use, now feels fine. . . no sticky feeling at all.

I picked up an RPR st a local shop and cycled the action a few times. Put it back on the rack and ordered a Kidd Supermatch...

Are you running it with the longer bolt stroke? If so I had the bolt shaving off plastic bits till it created adequate self clearance. That and a bolt polish with Flitz cleaned up my action a ton. Not an issue on the shorter bolt stroke. Lock up is on the bolt handle and if yours is like mine, it looks like a kid with a free hand Dremel machined it. Polishing that corner also helps.

I'm having pretty much the same problem. I'm only 200 rounds into it, but it is definitely hard put the bolt into battery. Compared to my FVSR it's a night and day difference.

I have been looking into one of these, but I am not seeing a lot of good things about them on here. Makes me sad lol

While I was at a gunsmith, I saw a guy buy one for his kid...I guess they see the black chassis, etc and they think its a great gun. That one must not have had issues as the guy handled it and still bought it.
