Ok have a friend who bought a gen II 6.5 and a trijicon 2.5x10x56 scope(dont need scope suggestions bc thats what he likes and what he bought.. his dime!) ok folks are telling him that with that scope and the 20 moa rail( scope has 40moa)that he wont be able to have a 100 yard zero and if so he will be practically out of elevation by the time he achieves said zero? Does that sound right or is he asking the wrong people? Thanks for any info

First off - all the Trijicons I just looked up in 2.5-10x56 all had 50-60MOA of adjustment.

The only time I've heard of people running out of elevation adjustment is when they COMBINE a 20MOA mount/rings with a 20MOA rail.

he should be find with the 20moa as long as his mount/rings are 0MOA

Even if he were unable to achieve a zero at 100 yards, the combination would still be functional and he could quickly learn where to hold to hit 100 yards as well.
In short, it is just a convention to zero at 100 yards so that everything will be up from there out. Zero is still zero and you work with what you got.
