I think you answered your own question. The 22/45 has a 1911 grip style, and can even take some aftermarket 1911 grip panels.
You can also get it with a threaded barrel from the factory, and like you said, it's a proven design that's been around for years, and is very accurate.
IMO, the only reason to get the SR22 over the 22/45 would be if you really, really can't stand the field strip procedure for the 22/45, or just want a gun with a slide that more closely mimics the larger caliber semi-autos.
I have a 22/45 with a non-threaded bull barrel, and I love it.

what do you want to use it for? the SR22 is a small fun gun. the 22/45, to be fair, is a fun gun too, but there's a lot more accuracy potential in the platform.

IMO, the Ruger 22/45 is the way to go. Either get something in the old MkII series or get a MkIII and remove all of the lawyer crap yourself. Most important is the removal of the magazine disconnect as it improves the trigger and makes the field stripping procedure very easy.

One other note: If you remove the magazine disconnect from the MkIII, you can use both MkII and MkIII 22/45 magazines.

Damn I had no clue this bushing was around I have always hated the way the mag sticks and that you couldn't fire a round without the mag in I will be getting one or those bushings

Beyond the ergonomics.
Forgive me if i am misaken, but i believe that on the Mk2, Mk3 and 22/45 the barrel assembly is the registered firearm component. On the SR 22 that is not the case. This allows you to get replacement/modified barrels for SR22 without a transfer.

Before you make your decision, be sure to give the 2013 22/45 Lite (#3903) a hard look. They are just starting to show up in the market, but I think they will make a great suppressor host.
