So I have a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creed. I’m noticing some feeding issues. The rifle is in a the Magpul hunter American stock and I am using Magpul mags. My issue is when I go to run the bolt it appears that the bottom lug of the bolt is catching on the shoulder of the next round in the magazine and not letting me run the bolt rearward. There is no pressure or external affects on the magazine when this is happening. I order an MDT mag to see if it changes. Is anyone else having similar issues, is it something I’m doing? I’m at a loss.

Could be an issue with the feed lips being to open allowing the round to sit high in the magazine. Could also be how that magazine interfaces with the bottom metal and locks up. I would try and see if a different or new magazine helps solve your issue.

Check to see which Magpul 7.62 AC mag you are using. The Magpul hunter for the Ruger American comes with a specific 7.62 mag made for the Ruger American. It has a dark brown follower. I have both a R700 in a magpul hunter and a Ruger American predator in a magpul hunter in 6.5CM. I can use either mag with my R700 w/o issue but can only use the specific Ruger Magpul mag (brown follower) in the Ruger American Rifle. If I use the mags for the R700 (grey follower) I get the same feeding issues you mention.

Yes I do have the brown follower 5 round mag. Just never use it cuz it’s only 5 and I have mainly used this gun for PRS type competitions. The ten round mags I bought do have the grey followers, so can just get brown followers and replace the greys with the brown?

Good question. I would suppose you could swap the brown follower from the 5 rounder with the grey follower in a magpul 10 round 7.62 AC and be good to go. I do not know if magpul sells followers separately. You would have to get ahold of Magpul and ask.

I have noticed the 10 rounder magpul mags have issues feeding when I shoot PRS. could be I have a bum 10 rounder. Any pressure on the mag and I get failure to feeds so I have to be careful on barricades/fences/etc. I usually run a pair of 5 rounders for that reason.
