Sidearms & Scatterguns Ruger Mark 3... Ruger 22/45... is there much difference between the two??

RIII 22/45 has the grip angle. Too bad it's a Chinese puzzle to dis/reassemble as is and is happiest when its guts have been replaced so that it isn't.

"Mark III as one of the best out there?"
"Everyone"

Er, no.......

Mark III sucks.

Designed by Lawyers for the State of California it represents the demise of a once great platform.

1. Receiver opened up to include a chamber indicator. Crap now can get in and the indicator is a joke.
2. No longer can fire without its clip in.
3. The clip now longer drops out. So why bother going to a mag release button?
4. Chamber is ruined by sloppy dimensions.
5. As a result of #4, suppression now results in the worst chamber pop in the industry.
6. An ejector that looks like it was made in a Chinese prison. Poor materials, poorly formed.
7. Now with even more parts to make a full frame strip a game of "wtf!"

Ruger......

If you can find one you would be better off with the Mark ll, for reasons already stated.

I really did not like the 22/45 at all. Controls have a gritty feel, and was ammo picky. Others will beg to differ of course, but that was my experience. I bought one of the threaded models, trying to go cheap for a suppressor host. I have since purchased a MarkII and added a paclite barrel for use with suppressor. Also found a factory Mark III tactical with threaded barrel, and have not had any problems out of that. I prefer the all steel rugers, instead of the plastic MARK/1911 hybrid abortions.

Other than the fact that I have an easier time putting the 22/45 back together, I prefer the Mk II over it. I shoot the Mk II much better, and I like the P-08 Luger look of it over the 22/45. JMHO.

I can only comment on the 22/45 as it is what I own. So far its a great pistol. I prefer the grip angle over the MK I/II/III. 100% reliable without a single hiccup yet. I did have some trigger work done as well as remove the LCI and have a MK II style bushing installed to fire without the mag in but mostly so the mags drop free. It is a but tricky the first few times to reassemble but gets easier the more you do it. I cannot comment on suppressor use being from Kalifornia.
