just picked up a new 22/45 from the gun shop a few hours ago it is the new model that has the threaded barrel but still maintains iron sights anyways i diddnt toy around with it too much at the shop but when i got home i man handled the hell out of it and the things that stood out to me was how rough the slide release is and how much force it takes to cycle the slide after the trigger has been pulled admittedly the last ruger mark anything i played around with let alone shot was a early 90's mark II goverment model and it was silky smooth all the way around as a youngster i never had any problems cycling the slide on that is it just me or has the attention to detail and craftsmanship died

It gets easier. They're tight as hell new and get very smooth after 1-2000 rounds. Starts getting easier after a few hundred.

Taking it apart and getting the barrel off brand new is almost impossible even with a mallet. I'm about 2300 in and my barrel comes off with finger pressure now.

Two things I highly suggest. Slingshot mod and take out the mag "safety".

IMHO anything that requires cocking and dry firing to assemble should NOT make you put a mag in. I thought that was ridiculous....

Best of luck with the new 22/45! I love mine.

The latter, apparently. Or its been lawyered to hell and back. I'm working on one, got the trigger nice but the junky assed thing is designed such that either I'm a crappy trigger guy or unless the trigger and sear surfaces grind together they aren't reliable. When lightened and polished the hammer is jarred loose from the sear as the bolt bounces closed on the chamber causing the hammer to fall. I'm no MKIII expert, clearly but its a stamped metal mess in my view and experience but for the money what can we expect. High Standards and Smiths are twice or more as much lavender, but for a one-time outlay I don't see the problem with spending the additional coin for the absolutely superior item that will always be superior. I simply happen to believe the bore and trigger pull are the two vital areas of a gun. Flaws in either turn me off. Rugers self loaders turn me off. Revolvers I like. No bashing. Only an opinion.
