As a retirement gift to myself, I picked up an new Gen 3 RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor.

This weekend I threw an inexpensive 4-14X44 scope on it and took it to the range to get sighted in. I stapled 6 shoot and see targets on the board so I could see where it was hitting to make adjustments. Took some factory Hornady 140 gr Match to get things going. Shot a few round and couldn't see anything. Loaded up five rounds and sent them down range. Still could not see what was going on. During the range brake when to check the target and found this.

Of course they landed in the little gap I left between targets.

I ran out of vertical adjustment on the scope so it shoots a mil high a 100 but that's easy to account for right now. I also need to see if I can get a little more length of pull out of it. Being 6'7" has a lot of disadvantages, this being one of them. I will be picking up a Vortex Viper PST for it and seeing if I can get a load worked up for it.

Cheers,

Conan

Sweet!

I got a Gen3 a couple weeks ago and haven’t had any time over the holidays to get my scope, suppressor mount, or Magpul stock mounted and make it out to the range. I hope mine shoots as well as many say these do.

I took her back out to the range today. The more I shoot her the more I like her.

The max range for paper on this range is 200 yard so I verified my zero at 100 then took it out to 200 and shot a couple of groups.

Hand loads with 140 gr ELD-M and 41.5 gr of H4350

I also did a ladder load test and gathered some velocity data starting at 41.5 and going up to 43.3 of H4350

This is where I need a little help. It looks like there is a pretty good velocity node between 42.5 and 42.9. I may be completely off base here though. Is this correct?

Conan,
I'd go with 41.6 grain for the slower node and 42.8 if you wanted a bit more speed out of it. You will get a bit more barrel life using the slower node.

My goto load on my 6.5 CM RPR is 41.2 gr. of H4350 with an MV of 2700 fps. My upper node is 42.6 @ 2780.

Change the stock out for the Magpul PRS and you will thank me.

Check into Reloader 16 for the load development. That stuff is amazing for the Creedmoor line of cartridges. If you decide to shoot the heavier 147s feel free to PM me and I will share some ideas on using RL26 or H1000. My Gen 2 RPR loves the 140-147 pills and shoots like a dream.
