On today’s episode of “My grips are worth more than my gun” I present the humble Ruger Wrangler:

Real elephant ivory was requested, but that changed once I sent the quote, lol. So I am using a faux ivory known as Resin Ivory from Guitar Parts and more.

I’ve used this stuff for other grips, knife handles, furniture inlays, etc. I think it’s one of the better fake ivory options out there.

It does a decent job mimicking the Schreger lines in real ivory and is close to the feel of natural ivory.

Schreger lines:

I’ll update as I start the cutting process.

Got some cutting done today.

Rough shape cut:

Ruger hates you so they have these ramps on the grip frame:

Laid out and cut in. I also laid out the location for the locator pin holes:

Gapless fit to grip and cylinder frame:

Once I drill for the locator pin holes it’ll be time for the heavy shaping.
