I'm sure by now some of you know about the big rimfire ammo clearance sale going on at SWFA. Well, I checked yesterday morning and all the Eley was gone and all the Federal Ultra Match was gone. Only thing left from what I bought was the RWS R50 sc. At that time I didn't check to see how many was left.
So, I decided to test various rifles with this RWS R50 sc ammo to see if I could find a nice match. Below are the guns shot and the results. At the end of the day, I went back to SWFA and bought all they had. The order of photo insertion is according to the file arrangement on my computer and is not performance related.
I was kinda disappointed in this 1710 XLR. The first 5 really screwed me but I took no warm up shots. I guess it took 5 to get in the groove. I never checked the barrel to see if it had been cleaned. In the first column, third row, the bullet just fell, shoot looked good. Same with second column, second row, the shot just dipped down. I'm hard on this gun because with quality ammo it mostly shoots 3/8" groups or better.
I'm more disappointed in this Anschutz 1813. It's another 3/8" rifle that really sucked this day. In all honesty, it is so much different than the other to shoot, I should have taken 50-100 shots first to acclimate myself first.
The lovely and talented Kimber 82 SVT. This single shot gem was only made one year, 1997. This is a fantastic rifle to shoot with only one downfall and it's big. As with my other 82G's the trigger pull is inconsistent. I had three AD's resulting in measuring only 4 shot out of those three groups. I have toyed with the idea of getting this XTSP trigger trigger but hard to pay $300 for it. If it was the only rifle I had it would be different.
Sako P94S Finnfire Range. I can see where the Tikka T1x gets its trigger, action, bolt lift and smoothness from. This Sako is simply fantastic and a pleasure to shoot.
I think I have showed this before but here is a bolt comparison between the Sako P94S bolt and the Tikka T1x bolt. The Sako has an extra locking lug and swept bolt handle.
To be continued.
