Picked up this scope this morning, all I can say is wow! S&B nailed exactly what I wanted in a .308 scope. Before I get in to the scope I would like to put in a good word for Mile High Shooting Supply, those guys are GREAT...the post office lost my payment for about 7 days (took 14 days to arrive) and they were totally cool about it, and even sent the scope overnight so I could get it by saturday....good folks, and I will be doing more business with them in the near future!
I have extensive experience with top end scopes and I am totally satisfied. I have owned and shot the following extensively:
USO Canadian
S&B Dual turn 3-12 X50
S&B USMC MTC
Premier Reticle Heritage single turn MTC
S&B 4-16X42
Hensoldt 4-16 x 52 (still best glass and eye box)
1st thing I noticed is Locking mechanism is a very easy twist top, the knobs are almost the perfect size easy to grab and use, I have run the scope up and down left and right it is very easy.
This is my first scope with the P4fine, and I am ok with the reticle, it is really unusable at 4x in the bright sunlight, but I suspect it will be fine in lower light with the reticle illuminated.
I am not sure if S&B has redesigned the eye box but it is very close to the image I get with the Hensoldt Never mind, got the Henny out last night, it is still much better than the S&B (henny has no tunneling at under 5X and the glass is just better...I wish they made the Henny CCW/zerostop/ and maybe MTC)
It tracks dead nuts and is very easy to adjust on the fly, I shot from 200-300-425-500 m and back, using the P4F I shot a combo of hold over and dialed dope
all in all very happy with the first run, will run it through its paces and report further later
