Searched, didn't find much - thanks for taking the time to read and respond if you have experience or a studied opinion.
Having a Bighorn build done, so I get to pick a trigger, which gives me the option of choosing safety location.
I am accustomed more to AR15 formats, so the Rem 700 - style safety location is NOT natural to me any more and has cost me a few shots on hogs, etc. Yes, I can become accustomed to it and negate that disadvantage over time (and will if I get resounding feedback to stay with it,) but it has me wondering about other options.
I have heard of safety levers INSIDE the trigger guard (dealt with Mini14 and M1A rifles for years with no issues) and wonder if that might be the right option for me.
A contributing factor to the mental debate is that I will be running a pistol grip-style chassis, which takes me even farther from the normal safety lever than even a traditional Rem700 stock.
I understand some folks desire to "not have anything other than the trigger in the trigger well" but it is reflexive for my finger to stay well clear of the trigger guard until a shot presents itself, so I'm not really worried about safety. More interested in function, reliability and real-world viability. Not building a bench gun - down and dirty hog killer and paper puncher out to 500. If I won't give up anything in terms of quality, but WILL make the off-safe motion faster and more efficient then I'm interested.
Never seen one, much less manipulated one, so I appreciate user feedback and experienced counsel.
Product suggestions appreciated, as well.
Thanks!
