I have an older model Saker 556 with the ratcheting style QD mount (not the ASR) and my range session was finished with an end cap strike. The end cap is removable, so after looking down the tube the baffles don't appear to have any damage. The end cap was barely hit. I emailed SiCo warranty service. I am hoping they will replace the end cap and swap the old mount for the new ASR. However, the website says their ASR mounts are out of stock. Hopefully they have some set aside for cases like this.

I have a Griffin Recce 5 can and have had good results with their taper mount. They make a Saker mount that uses their taper design, and it’s only $100 for the mount.

The dead air route would cost me about $350 and the Q probably is not far off I’d assume.

Update: SiCo customer service must have changed since I remember stories previously to their major downsizing. I figured they were just going to issue me an RMA and send it in and they inspect it, fix damage and send it back.

The email basically said they will send me a new end cap once I send them pictures of the damaged one. I sent pictures of the muzzle device and how the edge of the taper is messed up indicating that the mount isn’t securing properly, and this hasn’t happened before after having this suppressor for a while.

Still awaiting a response to my pictures and feedback. I’ll probably just spend the $120 on the Griffin Armament plan A mount.

I put the Griffin Plan '"A" on my Omega. There really isn't anything wrong with the ASR system. You just have to actually follow the directions and pay attention. I swapped so that I could use my Omega on the same rifles that I already had Griffin taper mount brakes on because the first can I got was the Recce 7 and my barrels were already set up for that. It works very well for that and actually makes the Omega a little shorter and lighter in the process, so it was a win all the way around for me.

It would probably run just fine without changing up anything. Its always nice to have cans in great shape but I doubt it will effect function. If the mount is the source of your endocarp strike that is indeed another issue.

I believe it is. It's the old MAAD mount not the ASR. Still no response yet from SiCo.

I can sell you ASR devices and mounts from my 556K ASR, if you are interested? I’m pretty heavily invested in Griffin taper cans and switched over to Plan A for consistency. They are all brand new, never been fired. Shoot me a PM if you’re interested and I check out my inventory tonight.

This has been a shit show so far. I've tried calling their office number three different times today. It rings a couple times and then sends me to some old school AOL phone internet ringing system and then disconnects. No response to my email with pictures of the damage that they requested.

Sico has really gone downhill from what I remember them being.

If you can, go through your dealer. I had a qd mount on my saker to begin with, but it never locked down quite right. You could unscrew it after locking it down. My guy gave 'em a call, new mount switched out (took a couple of weeks for the new mount to arrive) and good ever since (a good 1k fired on my AR).
I like silencerco enough that I have a new Omega on the way (Well, it's currently in jail) for my pet, my Browning HP. Just waiting...

That sucks to hear that their CS has fallen off. A few years back they swapped out both my MAAD mounts and all muzzle devices with ASR after I had a couple issues.

Swapping to the dead air setup would be nice, but I have 3 ASR suppressors and a dozen muzzle devices...so I’d be looking at $$$ to swap. I’m not sure how much of a market there is for used ASR bits. I could go with just the Dead Air on my Omega and new Bergara to see how I like it, although the under the rail ability would make more sense on an AR.

Yeah, that’s what I was hoping was going to happen. As of now, I’ll consider myself lucky to have them send me a new end cap.

I thought about buying the chimera, not anymore.

Update:

Received an email from SiCo this morning. Here is what they said:

"Thank you for the photos. Was your suppressor ever shot off the muzzle device? The wear is consistent with one that had the suppressor disconnect, as well as being our first generation muzzle device. I will be including a replacement muzzle device as well, and this will eliminate any chance of the muzzle device being a problem. I just need your address, and phone number to complete the RMA."

I am hoping it was just the muzzle device, but I wish they would just send me an ASR mount, ASR muzzle device and a new end cap. It seems like I am asking a lot, but they don't sell MAAD mounts or muzzle devices anymore. Unless I am reading it wrong, they intend to keep me with the MAAD mount instead of sending an ASR.

If it doesn't pan out, I will just upgrade to the Griffin Plan A taper mount.

Another update: I called SiCo because I haven’t heard anything or received my RMA since Aug 29th. Apparently the dude I was working with is no longer working there and my claim was forwarded to a manager who is out on a family emergency.

The customer service rep took care of the situation right away. I just have to send my muzzle device, MAAD mount and damaged end cap to them. Once they have received those parts, they will send me the ASR system instead of MAAD parts no longer used.

Sucks man. Everyone I know who has a maad mount got upgraded for free years ago. Glad they are updating it. I dropped ASR and went keymo and have no regrets but it was not cheap

MAAD mounts are cool unless your in adverse dirty environments like mud or snow...had cans shoot off a few times. ASR is a solid mounting option. when they upgraded me in 2018 they re-cored the can, re coated the can, new endcap new ASR mount and 7 yes seven muzzle devices all for free. turnaround time was about 3 weeks from door to door

Damn! Yeah, I had to bargain for 1 muzzle device and ASR upgrade.

Not sure if they got stringy after their BOGOF deal where they got swamped and lost their asses on, since i had mine repaired before that fiasco this was also my 3rd RMA with them i had my well used maad mount seize on a new device, and then i send the mount off for a new one after by first blow off (snow was int he mechanics and prevented a proper seal) so but this can is well north of 20k rounds currently in the last 5 almost 6 years

Update:

It's been 3 weeks now since SiCo received my defective/damaged parts. No new parts yet. I called today and Zach from customer service said "hmmm I wonder why it's taking so long? I will send an email to warranty and see what's going on". I was told even if they had to make the parts it would only take two weeks tops.

This is just annoying. I also had to call SiCo 3 times before someone answered. The message said "you have called during non-business hours" which I did call during business hours.

This is my last dealing with SiCo. Don't buy anymore of their s***

I have been trying to get this fixed since August 23rd.

Update:

I called again yesterday and spoke with someone else. Originally, she gave me the same runaround everyone else did saying she would email warranty and see what’s going on. Since I was tired of getting this same response with no follow-up or results, I told her it’s been a month now on something that typically takes a week or two tops. I also said I’d like to directly talk to someone in warranty service.

She said the guy in charge of warranty service doesn’t have a direct contact line she could transfer me to. So she offered to talk with him and call me back with an update.

A couple hours later she called me back and said the end cap just “came in” today and supposedly that’s what they have been waiting on. Maybe that’s because I asked for the flashider end cap instead of the flat one?

I received an email with a tracking number and it will be here Wednesday.

I have to vouch for SilencerCo CS. This summer I had a baffle weld failure on my Omega, blew the bafflestack 100 yards downrange. I emailed SilencerCo, they emailed me a label to ship it to them with. They re-cored it and had it back to me very quickly. I think the total time between when I shipped it to them and having it back in my possession was only 2 weeks.

I'm sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same. Just wanted to say, don't count them out yet.

Its good to hear Silencerco took care of you, i've heard mixed things about their CS in recent years... I still have a Saker 556 but have long since ditched the MAAD system in favor of 51T since I still have an AAC can and mounts to interface with it.... I have debated switching to the Deadair system but have recently purchased a Surefire can so it is a low priority.
With so many can manufacturers making superior mounting solutions I wonder how Silencerco is doing as far as sales. Everybody I know is buying Surefires and deadairs (for rifle cans).

Well, I was shooting a 2-gun match today and the ASR mount on the can came loose. The manual said not to over-tighten the mount. I had the suppressor in a vise and tightened the ASR mount with the wrench. Apparently that wasn't tight enough. At least I caught it before anything catastrophic happened.
