Sandbag or Sack?

I am looking to maybe get away from my rigid bipod and use something else up front. There are 2 ways I am looking at going, but some argue about which one is more accurate.

1) front bag: I've heard that just using a front and rear sandbag can be more accurate than even using a rifle rest (not looking into heavy rests or vices)

2) sack: Some say just resting on one sack or "H Shape" bag that you lay the rifle on is better than using two bags. Something like this...

Which way do you guys think is better??

Have you tried a rear bag with your bipod? Much more versatile in the field, works well of a bench as well. I have had very good luck with the TAB, Red Tac and Triad rear bags, link below.

When you say rigid bipod, are you using a non-swiveling bipod? I really can't tell from your picture.

Yeah right now I am using a non-swiveling Harris bipod and a stoney point compact rear bag. I should also say that I only shoot bench rest.

A swivel model Harris makes things a lot easier. You can adjust the tension any way you like from very loose and floppy to very tight. If you're only shooting benchrest, I'm surprised that you don't want a heavy, adjustable benchrest tripod. I just use an old Hoppes cast iron tripod with leather sandbags front and rear. Doesn't have to be fancy or expensive, just rock steady and stable.

^ Actually I just came back on here after checking out some of the tripods. I'm pretty sure I am going to be investing in one pretty soon.

I do the bipod/rear bag thing with most of my rifles. However, with my .22-250 bench rifle (no bipod lugs) I use the 'sack method' with a rear bag and it keeps the gun pretty stable.

I have two custom front bags I use. I sometimes only use one, but if I need to get the rifle higher I add the other one ontop of it. Works out great. I've also heard good things about "The Rock" type front rests, but I've never used one to see.
