I'm looking hard at a Sandman TI for my 20" 6.5CM AR. It'll be dedicated to the rifle. Anyone using one on an AR? Any recommends against? I have a 762 Saker on it now splitting duty.

Get a TBAC. I’ve shot the Ultra 9 side by side with the Sandman Ti and the TBAC suppresses better than any of the Dead Air cans I’ve shot. Don’t get me wrong, I love DA and have a Sandman S. Just different applications.

The big reason I say that is you already have a full auto rated can (Saker), the Ti is very similar, only a titanium outer tube and direct thread.

I’d strongly suggest a dedicated precision can, or maybe a shorter QD fullauto rated can like the Sandman S.

Honestly though, the Saker is a pretty good can for a big semi.

Thanks Dirty. After some real searching, I ended up just ordering the 65Ultra7. I have a 30CB already and was actually wanting to go this route, but was having trouble finding a TBAC in stock. I was getting quoted 14-18 weeks to start the ATF wait, so was considering other options. But Hansohn Bros came through for the win! If anyone is looking, they should still have a couple in stock.

I own the Ti. I shoot small groups with it and it suppresses well.

My brother has one and is a big fan. Can definitely take a lot more heat than a TBAC.

A few design differences I observed besides the obvious material differences:

1) Ultra has an unclipped blast baffle; Ti has all of its baffles clipped.

2) Ultra has a pattern on the blast baffle to induce more turbulence, Ti has standard smooth cones.

The material and design differences should lead to higher volume in the TBAC as opposed to the Ti.

The Ti has a much higher heat capacity and the baffles can handle far higher temperatures. A suppressor turns noise into heat: the Ti can turn more noise into heat without compromising its integrity than the TBAC.

I have not put a scope down the bore of the cans and I’m not an expert, but I really don’t think the Ti and Ultra cans compete with each other, two different tools for different tasks.

Good data. However, steel is far better for heat than titanium, hence the use of titanium on precision cans and steel/steel alloys on carbine and pistol cans.
