OK- the weirdest thing ever with this report but I will first say Satern barrels are amazing!!!! I got it several months ago and did not feel like gathering the rest of the parts to finish the build so I was bored and used what I had sitting around. Here is the funny part I picked up a total POS handguard at a gun show years ago for like $ 50. It is a no name at all so not sure who even makes it. But, I thought it would be a valid experiment. SO, I put it together with a spare Aero upper, junk rail and a PSA bolt carrier. Satern sends you a matching bolt with the barrel.
I shot Hornady 123 VLD black through it and Federal Bergers. I shot several groups with each and the results were stunning! Horn. literally every group was 1/2" and under. Some groups 3 rds were literally in the same hole and two touching. It is like scary bolt gun accurate. The Bergers FGMM shot about 1/2" and was not quite as accurate but still amazing. The only other gun I have shot that is this accurate is a few GAP's and my AI rifle.
Anyway I a, beyond impressed with Satern and somewhat confused on the shit handguard and how well it shot without some Gucci rail. I was going to replace it but I think I will leave it.

thanks brother- yeh it is funny it worked so damn well. I ordered a Noveske rail for it but I sort of want to keep it as is and test it more to see how the cheap rail ends up.

I know this is for autos, but I have used Saterns for a few years now and I have never had a bad one. My first Satern was on a AR and it shot great. I done well with it in 3 gun, up until I quit shooting 3 Gun. Then when I noticed the Satern barrels in Brownells for bolt guns, I thought I would try one for a Creedmoor build. My first 3 rounds shot a .167. My shooting partner shot the same rifle and his first 3 were a .208. I have built a couple more Creedmoors and all have been .25 rifles. It just can't be beat for a pre-fit barrels. Steve is also a great guy to work with and he will go out of his way to help.

Yes- I know that- I have built well over a dozen ar's and owned and currently own 20+. I just thought it was interesting and making a point that maybe we place too much emphasis on fancy ones when it does not matter at all in the end as long as the barrel nut is solid. The barrel nut on this cheap one is steel so it does the job it is supposed to. That was my point exactly, but I guess I did not express that as clearly as I could have. I am typically in the camp of fancy ass handguards but this rifle will get nothing on it but a bipod mount so it does not need to be robust. I am sure there is a difference in durability like drop tests etc, that cheap ones aren't the same as let's say a Noveske or DD rail. But, like you said at the end of the day it makes zero difference at all.

Yes, the barrels were pre-fit for Rem 700. Act quick because the prices are going up. They sell out fast. I also have to agree on the handguard issue. I have spent way to much money over the years on name brand handguards and when I switched over to the cheaper no name, they worked just as well. I can know buy 3 to 1. I buy from Chandler Hardwoods and I noticed that they have unfinished 15" for $39. A can of paint and have at it. People get to loyal on the big name stuff, and when you find these deals, some folks get defensive. I have used these handguards on my 3 Gun rifles and if there is a test to beat a rifle, it is in 3 Gun. If there is money to be thrown away then get the most expensive handguard out there. It is your money.
