I have the chance to pick up a Savage 10 predator like new, less then 70 rds through it for $600. It comes with a Bushnell 4200 6x24x40 scope. Guy will let me shoot it before I buy it and says it will do under 1/2" groups at 100yds with factory ammo. I don't have an immediate use but seems like a great deal. What say you. THANKS in advance for any opinions.

Great guns, in my opinion. I have one in .243 with the Max-1 camo Accustock. It's a tack driver. I know they make/made models without the Accustock, also. Do you know which one it is? Also, what caliber? I think that's a fair price with the scope included. I just saw one on a store rack today with a lesser scope that looked well used for $689.

Decent rifle mate.

I have one, It's pretty accurate with the Federal 50 Grain Tipped ammo...

This was 5 shots at 118 mtrs... not bad.

My 10FCP came in the plastic stock as a package gun from Dick's. I bought it in November of 09 as a package gun, with a cheap scope mounted. It is the newer center feed design made to fit the Accustock they came out with a few years ago though for the purposes of keeping the price down the tupperware stock was used rather than the Accustock.

I shot it with the stock it came with and then tried a modification to stiffen the forearm of it until I decided upon which one I'd go with. I routed out the plastic reinforcement in the forearm and epoxy bedded two 1/4" threaded rods which did not solve the flex completely. So I bought a B&C Medalist (Bell and Carlson) vertical grip tactical Style stock, had Jeff at CDI inlet it for his bottom metal and have found it to be a very nice shooter!

I did not care for the square-ish fore arm and last fall I put it on the router table and radiused the corners off for a far more rounded contour. I painted it to match the rest of the stock and am very pleased with it. That rifle is a keeper. I have about 1200 rounds through it and expect it will go another 7000 or so as it's a .308. That said, I am sorely inclined to do something in 6.5 mm and that may be the platform for it.

As I said above, I would buy that rifle for the price you were offered!

Good luck!
