Re: savage 10FCP ladder test results

Any signs of pressure? I ask cause I was testing this weekend on my savage and getting sticky bolt, along with extractor marks at 44g varget with similar components.
With win brass I was fine, but the federal brass (1 X fired) showed the pressure signs. Barrel was stock 24" model 10. Was shooting at 2400 feet, temp around 70.

No pressure signs, and I was using 44.5 of varget in my 10fp 24" average was 2744. Are you full length resizing and have you checked the length of the cases? With both my 10's the chambers are tight and case length is important.

I had planned to retry the first set of loads to double check and then do the .1 increments. Also the temp at time of test was 62' and the wind was 9mph to 19 ENE, with target south of bench.

Full length sizing and cases were trimmed. I was getting average of 2775 with 44g varget (fed cases)so may just be my chamber is really tight.

Re: savage 10FCP ladder test results

I run 45gr of Varget in Winchester cases with 175 SMK and have no signs of pressure. It is listed as a MAX load though. I am guessing excessive pressure in in the GMM brass is due to the thickness of the brass and the chamber dimensions of your rifle.
