Savage 110 PPR

I’ve never felt so impoverished than being tagged in a Savage thread 😂

I bought an Ultralite because it was deeply discounted and I really like it for what it is, but I’m into it sub $800. I kinda want a carbon predator 6ARC but I struggle to justify $1300 street price for one of these rifles.

That rifle looks like it’s $2K on the low end… no fucking way. I was also less than impressed with the Phoenix 2 I had, it honestly kinda sucked.

You can buy a Proof MTR for $500 more that’s on an origin action with a trigger tech and a hand laid CF stock. Or you can buy an origin and proof prefit around $1800 and drop it in whatever stock/chassis you want. Both far better options for the money than a $2K savage.

Makes sense!
I liked everything about it until I saw the price…getting into custom range like you said

I own, shoot, and enjoy my three Savage rifles. My “ higher end “ ( AKA “ more expensive “ ) rifle, a Model 12 LRPV in .223, has been flawless and very accurate out to 500 yards. Having said all that, I wouldn’t spend two grand plus on a Savage rifle.

🤣🤣🤣
Sadly, I thought the same thing 🤣🤣🤣

I wonder if the "improved extractor" (whatever that means) is on all their boltheads now...
A guy at the range asked for some help with his son trying to sight in his hunting scope on a Savage. I asked about extraction issues and the bearing replacement option. He said the second gen of whatever this model was had fixed that. He owned a couple of them and no issues fwiw. The bolt did seem to lock up at about 75 degrees and took a lot of extra effort from 75-90. Without a round chambered. The kid said he’s cycled in 250 times or so but no change.

What’s the thoughts on the new 110 from savage?

Waiting to see review videos but looks loaded with features.

If you look up the price for the barrel, it's a touch over 1000, the stock is around 700.
You're paying 700 or so for a stainless steel action, trigger, bottom metal and pic rail.
I don't think the price is that bad, but it is hard to imagine paying that for a savage.

Origin action $1000
Trigger - $165 (timney)
Same stock with bottom metal - $803 (there's a 25 dollar upcharge for the camo paint, included in this price)
Proof prefit or barrel nut barrel- $1049

That's $3017 without including the shipping on said items, add another 150 for that. No muzzle break included.

So you get a better action, with a better trigger for just under 600 dollars more. But wait, there's more. The street price on the savage is going to be 300-400 less than the MSRP. Now we're talking 800-900 price difference.
Is it worth it?
Only you can decide.
FWIW, I built my hunting rifle on an origin medium action with unknown munitions bottom metal and pure precsion adjustable altitude stock with a mullerworks carbon fiber barrel and a timney hunter at 2 pounds.

Proof CF prefits don’t cost $1000+ and the street price on that rifle is $2K on the low end from the fly by night drop shippers. Most are listing it around $2500. For $2500 you can build a better rifle on an origin.

Buying that rifle over doing a custom is retarded.

Ok, 2,000 for the low end from drop shippers. Is that not right in line with the 300-400 less than the 2400 msrp?
I got my costs for the proof prefit right off the prrof sight, $1049.00, you may be able to do better.
Of course, I could be reading this wrong:

$1049 is full MSRP and you don’t pay that unless your dumb just like the rifle. Many retailers are $200-$300 less.
You somehow seemed to ignore my statement that only th eOP could decide if it was worth it,
You also seemed to miss that I built my hunting rifle on an origin action, all of my parts came to about 2900 dollars.

Fuck you’re dense. Yeah buy from proof and wait 6 months and pay more instead of a retailer that has one on the shelf for way less. I don’t know what point you’re trying to prove other than that you’re stupid.
