wouldn't a stevens 200 action work? can pick one of those up for 350 bucks. could even sale the barrel on ebay for a couple of bucks even (probably not much but enough for a few drinks lol)

Yes from what i've read will work. Was just looking for input on where to look to purchase if it was cheaper to purchase the action instead of the whole gun.

If you are really dedicated to getting a Savage rifle, just go over to savageshooters.com and pay for a membership, which I think is $15 a year. Then you get access to the market place and you can find plenty of Savage rifles and actions for very cheap, as well as parts and accessories for them as well. That's the first place I check when looking for something for my Savage.
