Anyone have an FVSR that was purchased in the last year that an measure the thread length from the muzzle to the shoulder??

I've read a few reports that they were a little long at around .475" as opposed to .400".

can anyone verify this?

Thanks!

Re: Savage FVSR thread length

Thanks Jon,

I'm ordering a SS Sparrow and I've heard a few reports of that the threads on the FVSR were too long and bottoming out before the can squares up on the shoulder...The overall thread length on the SS sparrow is .476" long max from what I can tell on the website.

I don't have my FVSR yet (still on order) so I was just curious to see if I'm going to have to modify the threads to engage the o ring the same way the silencerco adapters do or simply take a few thousandths off the front. I'm going to have it recrowned anyway so it wouldn't be too hard for my machinist to cut it back a little shorter.

Re: Savage FVSR thread length

I just purchased mine today I went with the regular FV and I plan on having it cut and threaded to the Sparrows specs.

Re: Savage FVSR thread length

Strange, usually there is quite a bit of free space after the threads end and before you would run into anything to stop it from threading any further...but Im not familiar with the sparrow.

I forgot to do that today, so Ill try to remember to in the morning for you. Its definitely shorter than AR threads I know that, but I also know its longer than the .400 I do my 1/2-28 threads at. When I get some time and am bored enough I will probably re-thread mine to get a new crown on there, the threads are slightly loose and a pretty nasty crown.

Re: Savage FVSR thread length

Just got it in...threads measure around .475" overall length...I'm going to have the smith just cut down the last bit of threading .075" to engage the o ring on the sparrow.

on a side note, has anyone had any problems with their magazines?? The very last round on the factory 5 round magazine won't feed 100% of the time. The first 4 rounds sit at the proper height/angle but the very last round won't come up high enough and ends up hitting the bottom of the chamber...I think my hammer and a pair of pliers need to come out of the drawer....

fixed the mag problem.....

I thought about using the spacers, but it'd be nice to have the oring engagment too. I might just have it re-threaded when I get the crown done...The crown on this one is less than stellar...

Re: Savage FVSR thread length

Yup just get the spacers.

Trr-sr and a mite seat just fine.

quality rethreading costs almost 1/3 the price of the gun .. yikes.

But a baffle strike could cost you the price of a new suppressor which can me more than the gun itself
